Biography

Haruka Yukawa is originally from Osaka; she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Soka University in Tokyo, where she developed her skills in teaching foreign languages and culture. After completing her undergraduate studies, she majored in Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages at West Virginia University as a master's student. She learned second language acquisition theory and language education while working as a Japanese teaching assistant there for a year. Due to the school’s unstable financial circumstances, she transferred to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. There, she is currently working to obtain a Master’s degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures while working both as a Japanese teaching assistant and research assistant.

In addition, in 2023, she became a member of the Alliance for Language Learning and Educational Exchange (ALLEX) and completed the 2023 ALLEX Teacher Training Institute, earning a certificate for her achievements.
