Biography

Haruka Yukawa is originally from Osaka; she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Soka University in Tokyo, where she developed her skills in teaching foreign languages and culture. After completing her undergraduate studies, she pursued a Master’s degree in Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages at West Virginia University. She learned second language acquisition theory and language education while working as a Japanese teaching assistant there for a year. Due to the school’s unstable financial circumstances, she transferred to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. There, she is currently working to obtain a Master’s degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures while working both as a Japanese teaching assistant and research assistant.
