Nancy Abelmann was the Harry E. Preble Professor of Anthropology, Asian American Studies, and East Asian Languages and Cultures at Illinois. She was widely admired as a scholar and colleague whose generosity, intellectual energy, and campus leadership helped connect faculty across disciplines; she passed away in January 2016.
