Students are invited to participate in the Fourth Annual Korean Speech Contest on Thursday, April 4th. This event is open to all, and will be co-hosted by the Korean language program in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and the Korean Students Association (KSA).

Here is where you can submit an application to enter the contest.

Students who currently take KOR courses will be given an extra-credit (2% added to a final course grade) for their participation in the Contest. In addition, winners in speech categories (not skit) will be eligible to compete in the Inaugural Mid-West Korean Speech Contest to be held at Northwestern University in Chicago on Saturday, April 13th. The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures will support those three winners with up to $50 for travel expenses so they can participate in the Mid-West Speech Contest in Chicago. The 1st place winners at each level in the Mid-West Korean Speech Contest will be awarded with a tuition-free opportunity to study in Korea during summer. There will be other miscellaneous awards to the contestants.

Registration site will be open soon. In the meantime, feel free to email Jeeyoung Ha, director of the Korean language program (j-ahn3@illinois.edu) if you have any questions about either contest.
