The Japanese language program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) offers language courses of four levels from elementary to fourth-year.  While each focusing on particular skill areas, all courses aim at developing comprehensive language ability that enables culturally-appropriate behaviors and communication. Japanese Language Program News & Announcements

  • The Japanese Placement Test that was originally scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2020 from 10:00 to noon in Room G30 Foreign Languages Building will now be offered online instead of on campus. The date has not changed, but be sure to check back for COVID-19 updates.
  • Students with some degree of both Japanese and English language abilities are invited to come speak and interview with hiring companies for full-time and internship positions at this summer and fall's Career Forums. Positions are located worldwide.
  • The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures will be offering an online Japanese course for Summer 2020. Register now before seats fill up!
